The NJPEC currently offers the following five scholarship programs.
Each scholarship has different qualifications and submission procedures, be sure to read each one carefully before submitting.

NJPEC Scholarships
If you would like to make a contribution to the NJPEC Scholarship fund, please click the donate button below.

The NJPEC annually awards scholarships to promising college students who are enrolled in a packaging science or packaging engineering curriculum.  To qualify, you must have completed a minimum of 2 semesters of coursework and submit an application with a copy of your transcript.  The selection process is based on academic achievement, financial need and extra-curricular activities:  i.e membership in organizations, internships etc.  Scholarship recipients receive free special NJPEC Membership status for two years.

Dr. Frederick Rimmele Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2001, it will be awarded to the son or daughter of a member in good standing of the Club. Qualifications:
  1. The applicant must be a full time student at a fully accredited college or university, having completed 2 semesters with a GPA of at least 3.0.
  2. Applicants may apply in subsequent years
  3. Applicants are not limited to studies in the packaging field, nor to schools in the State of NJ.

The Smith Design Brand Identity/Package Design Scholarship

Smith Design, a New Jersey/California based brand design firm specializing in brand identity and package design for consumer brands, offers a Student Scholarship Award through the NJPEC.

Who can apply? Matriculated students for the 2009-2010 academic year in an accredited program that prepares its graduates for careers in the following professions: Package Design and Brand Identity Design.

Requirements for application are examples of Packaging Design/Brand Identity Design:

  1. A minimum of (3) three to (6) six examples per student entry. Examples must focus on brand identity and visual imagery as applied to package design for a consumer product or brand. The product or brand packaging can be a redesign of an existing product or an original concept. Original structural design concept can be included, but is not mandatory for submissions. The focus is graphic design on packaging.

  2. Submission Procedure: Designs may only be submitted electronically as a multi-page PDF, directly to Smith Design james@smithdesign.com subject line: NJPEC Scholarship Entry. Include your name, contact information, and name of accredited school/program.

  3. You will receive a reply email when your submission has been received.
    Only winners will be notified after judging.

  4. Judging: submissions will be reviewed and judged by Smith Design’s professional design team.

  5. Evaluation Criteria: entries will be judged on creativity, quality of execution, overall success of communication via a logical and appropriate solution with evidence of strategic thinking behind the design, level of professional “polish” and aesthetic of overall presentation.

  6. Entry Deadline: August 20, 2010

  7. Award: Winning entries will be notified via email. Winners will be invited to the NJPEC Scholarship Awards Dinner.

The Kathleen Brady Zito Scholarship

This award is sponsored by Vince Brady of Brad-Pak Enterprises in honor of his daughter Kathleen Brady-Zito and is given to the most exemplary female applicant in each calendar year. Qualifications:
  1. The applicant must be a full time student whose parent is an active member of the NJPEC and in good standing.
  2. Applicants may apply in subsequent years.
